The next season is getting closer now. And that means a new batch of shows to either watch, drop, or stay on-hold until I forget about it. There’s only one sequel I’ll be keeping up with since I’ll watch some new anime too. Enough short introductions, here are the anime!
Golden Kamuy 2nd Season
After a successful first season back in Spring, Sugimoto and Asirpa are back on the hunt. I haven’t kept up with the manga because I don’t have time. I only skimmed through and things will get a little spicier in the later chapters. Oh, there also a side-storyย OVA that hasn’t been released yet. Not sure if it will be important in the upcoming sequel.
Double Decker! Doug & Kirill
Judging from the premiere episode that’s online for a while now, it’s in an alternative setting to Tiger and Bunny. New cast, different timeline, same world from the original show. Also, what’s with the trend of having a bishounen male lead these days? Can’t it be two normal guys like the veteran instead? At least I’ll see the dynamics between the two and the other partners.
Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru
Looking at the main lead, he reminds me of a certain someone. I’m watching this because the author of Fune wo Amuย is the one who wrote it. And Production I.G is bringing back their semi-realistic style again. Can the novel have an English release one day?
Yagate Kimi ni Naru
The second yuri anime to air this year after Citrus! I’m expecting this one to not rely too much on drama unlike the last one. Notably, there’s fewer yuri anime produced these days. I hope this will be the start of a trend where the couple doesn’t need to go through a lot of blocks on the way. (See the Kase-san OVA to get my point.)
Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai
When was the last time I watched an anime that’s based on a light novel? (This could be a potential LN title too.) Best known as the Seishun Buta Yarou series, it’s been compared to Oregairu’s dialogues. If it could be on the same level or at least make its own thing, that’s a plus.
Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudoubu
Cute boys doing cute things + Kyoto Animation? I’m okay with it. Though I haven’t seen Free!, it better not become one of those shows where there’s an implied relationship but nothing happens between them in the end. The studio does this a lot in their shows even if it’s not their intention. (Looking at you Sound! Euphonium.)
