Yes, you read that right. That’s the name of the anime based on a light novel by Hajime Kamoshida. Also known as the Seishun Buta Yarou Series, I’ll refer to this as Bunny Girl Senpai. Normally I do my First Impressions after 3 episodes but there’s going to be some exceptions. Right from the get go I’m reminded of both the Monogatari Series and Oregairu from the main character and the titular heroine.
Don’t get deceived by the ‘Bunny Girl’ in the title though, it’s not what it is. The characters are going through an Adolescence Syndrome which affected their lives at some point. What makes it different from the two other anime I’ve mentioned is the chemistry of the main couple. They love to make fun of each other and they respect each other at the same time. Mai lashes out her words to Sakuta yet he talks back in a down-to-earth way. Sakuta also has a different approach when it comes to dealing with people. In one scene he takes off his shirt in front of Mai and he did it without shame.
They’re not the only ones who have the same problem. Sakuta’s sister, Kaede, got the same condition because of bullying on the Internet. Due to that connections were cut and she stayed at home and never went out ever since. There’s no indication currently as how would one get healed from the said syndrome.
It’s still early in the season and I want to read the light novel already. There is that charm you can only find it here. Good thing I didn’t pass this one because I’m used to shows like this.
This one has a really interesting premise and I’m curious to see what it intends to do with it.

Same here! Though I may fear that the adaptation will suffer on the pacing since they’ll cover 5 volumes. But so far things are getting good.
