Winter 2019: What I’m Looking Forward To

It’s 2019. And that means a new wave of anime incoming! But, I will be watching less shows this time. Why may you ask? The lineup’s not that interesting to me. Even if there’s some buzz with other shows, they’re not in my favorite genre. I could watch an anime from my least favorite genre, but not this time. Anyway, I’ll be watching these shows:

I watched Season 1 before and it was amusing to watch. Jabami’s back and she’ll be on a roll again. Does anyone here remember those over-the-top faces throughout the anime? That’s what made the show for me. It did also feature a male MC but I forgot what’s his name. But that’s not the main focus, there’s more gambling!

Boogiepop wa Warawanai (2019)

I don’t really know what this show is about. From what I see, this one is unrelated to the Boogiepop Phantom made by the same studio, Madhouse. What got me interested is the genres Mystery, Psychological, and Dementia. The last one has one of the rarest track records and is not easy to execute well in anime. If the genre did made waves in its earlier years, it should at least bring back what was missing all this time.

The Promised Neverland

A new shounen anime that’s not My Hero Academia! I never got the hype of that one, and I’ll never get into it. Sorry if I offend someone out there. This anime follows three characters who grew up in an orphanage. It’s actually something different for once in my perspective. I never followed what are the usual tropes in this well-known demographic and it looks like it’s promising.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War

According to the internet, this one is a battle of wits and love. It’s a challenge who’ll confess first and I’m not sure what would be the consequences. I never had time to read the manga and I only have anime to watch. Well, the visuals did show me that another new Best Girl will be a contender this year. I still wonder who’ll win in this game.

Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru 2nd Cour

With the team now acknowledging each others’ strengths and weaknesses, there’s still time for them to warm up. I still don’t know what will happen once the Hakone Ekiden actually starts. Production I.G delivered a good first half, I hope it will be the same in the remaining episodes.
