As the new season of anime has just started, I, ThatRandomEditor, got nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by MyAnime2go. I am grateful for receiving this. It’s actually my second award for blogging since my Real Neat Blog Award back in January 2019. Being in the community for 1 year (and a half) now means that I was able to make my mark here! This award wouldn’t be here if I didn’t follow this:

Answers to My Sunshine Blogger Award Questions

What was the first anime you watched?

Whether you believe me or not, it’s Fairy Tail and at the same time K-On!. I watched it on a channel called Animax Asia and it was in English dub. When I was younger there wasn’t a demand for Japanese audio (even though the songs in K-On are still in Japanese) and it was the time where the medium was still a niche. I stopped keeping up with Fairy Tail when I finally got sick with it. Before the internet became a necessity I used to have my anime consumption on TV. After some time I craved for more anime in its original language.

What was the first manga you read?

Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan. I also watched the first season of the anime in the same channel but the second season it was online. It was also the first manga that I bought but I never saw the future volumes in any bookstore.

What part of blogging do you find the most challenging?

Being consistent and bringing more variety. As I stopped doing episode reviews I’ve been thinking back on what I will do from now on. Also I’m at my limits for reviewing an anime with a lot of inconsistencies. I also draw, but I haven’t thought if opening up commissions could be actually worth it. I show my works in my Twitter and Pixiv but no one isn’t interested right now. If someone was actually interested, I could do it right away. Maybe when the time comes, I will do it.

Is your blogging personality true to yourself or have you made some changes in the way you present yourself?

Yes. The change I did was how I try to review a show. I occasionally put up what happened in the episode of the show and give my thoughts at the same time. This gives way to a more personal insight. I don’t want my content to have some form misdirection on what I will write. I put up what I personally thought and explain as thorough as possible.

If you could bring one piece of an anime series — a magic spell, a piece of equipment, a technology, or something like that — to our world and use it, what would it be?

A motorcycle that talks like Hermes from Kino’s Journey. He or she wouldn’t be too nosy and would just enjoy the ride of going from one place to another and learn the area. I’ve been studying college and it’s almost the end but I feel like I want to do something else once it’s all over. If I had the chance.

What anime world would you absolutely never want to live in?

Attack on Titan. Do I need to explain further?

Who’s your embarrassing anime crush?

Not really embarrassing, but my husbando is Ogata from Golden Kamuy. For waifu, its Suruga Kanbaru from the Monogatari series. Don’t know why it has to be embarrassing since we all have our favorite characters at one point for sticking to anime for so long.

What anime are you enjoying the most right now?

Kono Oto Tomare! It’s quite a shame that this series is so under the radar in both the season it premiered and the sequel’s pilot.

Which anime character do you see yourself the most in?

Satowa Hozuki. Even though I’m a guy I relate to her struggles from her inner self, to her mother’s distant relationship, and how she’s able to withstand all of it. I know she’s a prodigy of course, but behind that is a character would could also apply to anyone you know in real life. You know what even if they say fiction is supposedly not real, there’s a lot of parallels you see in any fiction to the things around you.

You have to swap two main characters from (anime) series around.. for example Naruto and Goku… who would you choose and which of the series would you want to watch more?

I would swap Holo from Spice and Wolf and Boogiepop from Boogiepop wa Warawanai. From the two I prefer to see how Holo would react in modern day Japan where the supernatural is lingering in the shadows. She is the Wise Wolf, but having the possibility to interact something different is intriguing. Boogiepop would just blend in Spice and Wolf’s world from the way how he dresses as a fortune teller. And he would act the same way how he (or I think they?) did it in the original setting.

What is your favourite blog post that you’ve produced?

Once I said Boogiepop, it also another post about comparing the recent anime to the severely limited source material. It’s sad that the succeeding novels still hasn’t been licensed yet and the world is waiting to be explored. The only barrier is the language and popularity. Also it’s my most viewed post in the blog to date! I could write something similar to a different show, but going back to Boogiepop could suffice.
